Research
My work is animated by curiosity about first principles, procedure, and privacy, and how these areas intersect. I have conducted several years of international research on the formal and informal regulation of socio-political relationships, and I continue to think and write about the legal, philosophical, and political contours of communities within civil society.
I am currently working on projects that consider:
the norms and doctrinal import of en banc rehearings in the federal circuit courts
the problem of consent in modern contracting regimes
the legal evolution and impact of the Federal Arbitration Act
the objectification of children in and by the Supreme Court
the use of predictive analytics in family interventions and family risk assessment
I also work in early modern metaphysics, ethics, and politics. My dissertation explores the metaphysical foundations and unity of Spinoza's ethical and political thought. I think and write on puzzles concerning freedom, democracy, perfection, and eternity.
